Inspiration
In 1921, Gabrielle Chanel asked Ernest Beaux to create “a woman’s perfume with the scent of a woman”, extraordinary and powerful. The nose suggested a visionary composition that appealed to an unprecedented use of aldehydes. Mademoiselle selected version number 5 of the fragrance, and decided to keep this simple number as its name. In 1924, she launched Eau de Toilette N°5.
